Regular screenings and early detection can lead to healthier outcomes and save lives.

 

You deserve optimal wellness and early detection is essential. With early detection, it’s much easier to define the course of treatment that will help you heal and possibly save your life.

Did You Know?

All preventive screenings are covered by basic health insurance plans. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, most health plans must cover a set of preventative services such as vaccinations and health screenings free of cost (HHS, 2022). Depending on a patient's age, the following preventative services are covered under basic insurance plans.

Necessary Screenings by Age

According to the National Library of Medicine, women between the ages of 18-39 are recommended to have the following health screening below:

  • Diabetes Screening
  • Dental Exam
  • Eye Exam
  • Immunization- such as flu vaccines
  • Physical Exam
  • Breast Cancer Screening
  • Cervical Cancer Screening
  • Skin Self- Exam
  • Blood Pressure Screening
  • Cholesterol Screening

Other Screenings

If women have a family medical history of diseases such as colon cancer, it should be communicated with the provider for additional annual screening.

According the Novant Health, it is recommended that women over the age 40+ to have the following test/screening: 

  • Mammogram screening for breast cancer
  • Pap test screening for cervical cancer
    Women also get a Pap test, which looks for any abnormal cells on the cervix, as well as for HPV (human papillomavirus) infection.
  • Body mass index (BMI)/obesity screening
  • Depression screening
  • Alcohol, smoking and substance misuse screening
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening
  • Blood pressure check
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Diabetes screening as part of a cardiovascular risk assessment
  • Eye and dental exams
  • Influenza vaccine
    Get an annual flu vaccine before flu begins spreading in your community.
  • Tetanus-diphtheria booster
